Looks like a British Airways Tristar at 2:48.
We should have bought the Airbus A 400M
Mum said she was 5 years old when the first C-130H came to Whenuapai, she's now 64 , and watched this clip, her words, just a bigger Herc, she feels privileged to see the first C-130 in nz and the second arriving in NZ, 59 years later
I thought I caught a glimpse of it flying over Auckland.
Good stuff Kiwis
Many thanks!
No. 4 September 2024.
Can a NZLAV fit inside this one?
width the same, fuselage a little longer.
What a beauty - is it a new plane ...?
Yes.
Awesome!! Looking forward to seeing them soon.
Left overs from the battle of Okinawa
These are new.
I wonder what is going on though? We need more tanks, fighter jets, man power, etc and rely on Australia for that submarine...
Jet the jets and manpower would not be a problem!
National doing good work, fighter wing next!
They were ordered by Jacinda ...........
@@paulhargreaves1497Jacinda didn't do the homework on these being the best fit for NZDF . She wouldn't have a bloody clue. It was Ron Mark the coalition government defence force Minister at the time and was an MP for NZ First who worked with the AirForce to secure these.
Great to see some sensible use of tax payers dollars.
Good comment, thank you.
Is that NZ’s total air defence ? asking for a friend
485 Squadron legends
Pity they didn't buy planes that are arguably better, cheaper and have more use here in NZ, like Embraer C-390s.
Probably needed to get a few 2nd hand Spartans, that can land on smaller runways in the Pacific rim countries like the Andovers did. I think the engines are the similar to the new 130j. Just a thought.
I think a couple of these are under consideration, more so as they. can used as a VIP transport.
@@AirflowNZ makes total sense. I just refamiliarised myself with the Spartans specs. And these have same engines and glass cockpit as the C130.30J we have just got. So engines spares and maintenence same same. And avionics the same. And our partners ie Aussie and the States have them
Mint long long overdue .next replace the 757's
See above comment!
Is this old our new
Howmuch is that
Cool. Now the PM and his team have some reliable transport! 😉 Probably will even have USB charging ports and a digital dash... hehe
Sounds powerful
And it is!
I'll have to wait for the new Herc to fly over my property here in Feilding on the approach to runway 27 at RNZAF BASE OHAKEA and I'll have listen into the radio of movements and I'll have to get the plane's registered number Cheese 🧀 Paul F
Patience is a virtue!
The fat Albert returns😅😅
Yes!
Hmmm you said F word !!!! You need to say "Disproportionately large " Albert. Who may also identify as Alberta!!!! 😂😂😂
How long before this one breaks down.
Great post, thanks very much. I was tracking him on flight radar yesterday. I'm hoping the Air Force was doing some video work from the little A-109 that was buzzing around (you can see it in your video) I'll miss the old H girls , many happy hours spent flying in all 5 of them ...many moons ago.
Many thanks for sharing your memories.
While the whole world Air Force are getting the A400 New Zealand getting C130 😂😂
Europe has to support Airbus. We are more aligned with Australia and the C-130J will work in well with them.
@@AirflowNZ based on that logic 3SQ would be flying UH-60's wouldn't they, not NH90's
@@KingiKukiAustralia has dumped their NH-90s but we did have commonality there but found them too unreliable and expensive to keep in the air. NZ apparently a bit happier wth theirs. Australia seems to be sticking to US equipment these days for greater coordination and support from US in wartime and New Zealand might want to think about that aspect too by aligning with Australia - maybe part of the C130 decision?
Yep the Airbus A400 is a better package, greater range, speed and pad capacity and can land on smaller airfields that have a less prepared landing surface
Bring back strike aircraft....only way to defend the borders.
Yes! There are many F-16’s in US storage facilities the we could access at a very low cost
@AirflowNZ yes agree. It's disappointing right leaning politicians are scared of the pacifist lobby. Without air support, other armed forces are vulnerable.
It’s a joke to say NZ has an airforce. Pathetic.
We rally do need strike force. Then youngsters would have a reason to want to join the Air Force!
@@AirflowNZ That's a lot of money for essentially a recruitment tool. And why would we need a strike wing? It wouldn't do anything our Allies can't do better. I think we do need a glamour fast jet force for recruitment and to keep a training cadre of fast jet pilots who can be seconded to allied airforces to fly the fancy stuff - so something like 6-9 KAI T-50Bs could be affordable and justifiable....
Key was going to reinstate it............what happened?
@@AirflowNZ thankfully your not making the purchasing decisions!
@@paulhargreaves1497 The Christchurch Earthquakes happened. (also the GFC in 2008).
Thank you for the Super video!!
I guess he does deserve some credit for the purchase.
Excellent, super glad we investing in our best..👍
Yes we are
Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
I keep forgetting the Kiwi sheep shaggers have an Air Force (well, sort of). Cheers from Oz,
You want to watch Hamilton Airport the American unmarked Herc's are a treat
What USA Hercs?
Curvy props mmmmm
And super quiet!
saw her today during descent from Albany! she’s a beaut 😍
Thanks for your comment.
Just as well it was too late for NatACTNZ1ST to cancel the deal. They've got to pay for those tax cuts by cutting jobs and services elsewhere.
Cool, now some f-16s to go with.
Too right!!!
Yes please
Delusional
drones
@zyoungson215 yes we do and I think most people would support a re-establishment of the strike. Was grumpy lefty Helen clark who is responsible for getting rid of the strike craft.
Bit slow on the change of the Guide flag there team.
Finally :)
And worth the wait!
Very cool to see finally. Until last year, I lived very close to RAAF Richmond where the RAAF C130J are based (I lived under the circuit!). Almost daily I'd see the Hercs flying over. Some nights they'd do circuit after circuit. We'd also get C17 from the RAAF and USAF. I even saw F35s. I miss living there for that aspect. These will serve NZ well for a long time. A great aircraft!
Brett, many thanks for sharing your memories.
Look after them , they will have to last for about 50 years before they get any more new ones
That is what our RNZAF does!
50 years??....dont you mean 65?? :)
That is because we have the finest engineers in our Air Force.. heck they could build a plane from scratch if they wanted to! And in this throwaway society, a quality built piece of engineering should , with proper maintenance, outlast. I'm just mourning the loss of the Orion. .. the one aeroplane you won't find in model kitsets, which is a shame
@@LindaGrey-wm9uc yeah, no.
It's about time. Thank you,Ron Marks.👍
You bet
I'm amazed that the RN tolerates that amount of rust.
Nice shiny new C130 great catch, I think the UK government will regret retiring ours 😔👍
Ian, it’s been a long wait to capture this and luckily we got a break in the weather. Europe have to support Airbus!
The A400M is a mightily capable machine!
@@Secretlyanothername But a maintenance nightmare.
I think that the UK government should regret a lot of things! Lol 😂
NICE
Thanks Colin!
Warship with two props needing tugs to berth! Pathetic.
My Father served on the original Taupo
Does HMNZS Taupo carry any armament? Or does she rely on Tamar to protect her and her crew?
What a show of force the Chinese navy would be shaking in their boots ha ha ha the royal navy is a joke one patrol boat no more ruling the waves.
Wow !!! That is like the whole NZ navy !!
And they did not have any gear failure on their way in!
